Signed to a major-label record deal at the age of 13, Shepherd has emerged as one of the most significant blues rock guitarists of our time.

His explosive debut album, 'Ledbetter Heights,' topped the blues charts and achieved platinum certification, propelling him into the spotlight in the mid-'90s, and since then, his aggressive, clean, and meaty country-blues style has consistently produced chart-topping albums and numerous Top 10 singles, including his breakthrough hit, "Blue On Black." Kenny's virtuosic guitar skills, rooted in a deep understanding of blues traditions, seamlessly blend classic elements with contemporary rock sensibilities, breathing new life into the blues-rock genre and captivating audiences worldwide. Through his electrifying performances and critically acclaimed albums, he has become a torchbearer for blues rock, inspiring a new generation of guitarists and leaving an indelible mark on the music landscape.

Recorded at the legendary FAME Studios in

Muscle Shoals, Alabama, 'Dirt On My Diamonds' showcases Shepherd's everevolving sound, blending modern urban influences with traditional blues undertones. “Every record I make is a moment in time. And this is a really special moment,” Kenny describes. Shepherd and his favorite co-writers threw out the rulebook, writing non-stop for three days.

“Nothing was off-limits, we just let the good stuff rise to the top." At a time when life often feels bleak and bone-raw, Shephard was intentional about the subject matter he covered. “There’s not a lot of incredibly heart-wrenching or difficult subject matter," he explains. "I didn’t want this record to be dark or dreary. My goal is always to make music that makes people feel good.” And of course, you feel the history down there in Muscle Shoals. "You feel it in the air at a studio like FAME,” he adds.

Provogue Records is proud to announce the brand new studio album from Kenny Wayne Shepherd entitled, 'Dirt On My Diamonds Vol 1' - available everywhere November 17th, 2023. Hot on the heels of his critically acclaimed 2022 re-issue, 'Trouble Is...25', Shepherd returns with a new project that builds upon his already legendary repertoire.

Three decades since the release of his debut album, 1995's Ledbetter Heights, this Grammy-nominated, multi-platinum bandleader still sounds like the future of the blues. If you approach 'Dirt On My Diamonds Vol 1' expecting autopilot twelve bars then you'll be thrown a volley of curveballs in the best way possible. With material this strong, no Polish was needed. As on any KWS album, songs are the currency, and the seven originals from 'Dirt On My Diamonds Vol 1' demand to be heard, lifting listeners above their circumstances at a time when life often feels bleak and bone-raw.

“DIRT ON MY DIAMONDS BY KENNY WAYNE SHEPHERD IS A MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL ARRAY OF HIGH-POWERED ROCK AND ROLL … BLUES… R&B AND COUNTRY ROCK. MUSIC ENTHUSIASTS OF EVERY GENRE ARE GOING TO BE BLISSFULLY INTOXICATED BY THIS ALBUM.

I MYSELF WAS COMPLETELY BLOWN-AWAY!”

BOOK REVIEW

-By Literary Titan (5) STARS

The Rock Star Chronicles by Ray Shasho, is a splendid book written by a music enthusiast who has poured their heart and soul into it. It’s a story of a boy who loved rock music, and his obsessive passion of it earned himself the name Rock Raymond. He went to school but instead was schooled in all matters of music while his peers were buried chin-deep in coursework. He then became a radio DJ and has now compiled a book on all interviews he held with Rock gods who raided the airwaves back in the 70s and 80s. It’s a compilation of interviews with outstanding vocalists, legendary guitarists and crazy drummers in the rock music scene. Each interview gives a reader an in-depth view into their personal lives and the philosophies that guide their lives which all serve to humanize these great icons. For readers who are old enough to call themselves baby boomers this book will bring old memories back to life. Millennials, on the other hand, may think of this book as a literal work of the Carpool Karaoke show.

The Rock Star Chronicles is a book I didn’t know I was waiting for. To come across a book that will talk me into trying something new. One brave enough to incite me to venture into new frontiers. This book made me a believer- I am now a bona fide Rock and Roll music fan.

Ray Shasho masterfully gets the interviewees talking. He smartly coaxes answers from them with crafty questions designed to get a story rolling out of them. The artists talk about diverse issues ranging from music, politics, and their social engagements. Having been on the music seen all his life, Ray Shasho knows the buttons to press, how to get them comfortable about talking about their lives.

The book’s cover is befitting of its subject matter with the leather look offering a royal background to the golden letter print. It speaks to how high a level rock music holds in the pecking order- arguably, modern music as we know it has originated from blues and rock music.  The second noteworthy thing is the use of high-definition pictures to reference the musician being interviewed in every sub-chapter. This ensures that the book is for both original rock and roll lovers and aspiring new ones. Together is makes for a refreshing and consistently enjoyable read.

I recommend this book to rock music enthusiasts, aspiring musicians wondering what it takes and all readers curious to learn new things by going back in time.
